Read MoreI have been a wedding DJ in Los Angeles for over 15 years and I am a one-person operation, not a large company or a referral service. The focus of my blog will be wedding related. The emphasis will be my tips and advice regarding wedding DJ entertainment. I will also spotlight some of my favorite wedding vendors, such as planners, venues, photographers, caterers, and videographers.
In the course of my wedding entertainment career, I have learned what makes the difference between a good wedding and a great wedding. One of the most important factors is the right music, played in the right sequence. In order to ensure the best results, the wedding reception DJ/entertainer must make sure that all of the important events happen on time with all the key players present.
In the coming months I will expand upon the specific qualities that separate someone who simply plays pre-recorded music at a wedding, versus a great wedding reception DJ/entertainer. Some of these qualities include a love and knowledge of all types of music, knowing how to read and lead a crowd, knowing how to make the necessary announcements without turning the wedding into an open mic night at a comedy club, and knowing how to handle all requests, including those that are on the “do not play” list.
In the coming months, I will cover how to effectively use and evaluate referrals, how to best work with your DJ, advice on your wedding timeline, assisting in determining the priorities for your wedding, and wedding budget considerations, to name a few. There are a ton of wedding resources on the Internet and I hope that this blog becomes one of your trusted sources. I want my blog to be a forum where you can ask me specific questions and a dialog emerges. Please send me any questions or topics that you would like me to cover.
